Hunter Firearm Safety and Responsibility Courses
Hunter Safety
All first time hunters (no previous license) and young persons under age 16 are required by state law to pass a certified Hunter Safety
Course (ten hours of instruction). The course covers wilderness survival as well as bow hunting, muzzle loading firearms, and modern
shotguns and rifles. Those completing the course will receive a certificate, I.D. card and a patch. Open to ages 10 and up.
**Students must attend all three nights of the course to receive credit.
Courses are taught Tues-Thurs 6:00-9:30 p.m. at Albemarle High School Cafeteria unless otherwise shown.

Home Firearm Safety and Responsibility Course
This introductory course covers the types of handguns available and their safe operation (loading, firing, cleaning and storage).
Local laws and regulations will be discussed by a county police officer. Handguns and ammunition are furnished. There are two
sessions on the firing range. This course satisfies requirements for concealed weapons permit in Albemarle County.
All classes, 3 sessions, 7-9 pm, room 129, Albemarle High School
