Town of Scottsville
Established 1744, Scottsville has been an important part
of Central Virginia's history. The Town's location on the
James River was vital to area commerce and made it a natural
choice for the original County Seat of Albemarle County.
Today, the County's only incorporated town is a great place
to live, visit or own a business! We welcome new residents
and new businesses to become a part of our community. We
invite you to take a walking tour of our Historic Town,
including a scenic walk atop the A. Raymon Thacker Levee;
built to protect the Town from future flood damage. Please
be sure to visit our shops, restaurants, parks, cultural
& historic places. We are proud of our people, history,
river and architecture; and we encourage you to enjoy the
best of Scottsville for yourself!
